Recently I started a personal project called "Pete's Path To Adulthood: The Raymond Avenue Project." Pete is a 23-year-old young man with autism and an intellectual disability who lives here in Charlottesville, Virginia. Pete is social, affectionate, hard-working and enjoys being in the community, interacting with his family and friends, and like all of us, “making his dreams come true." The concept behind the project is to provide a safe, community based residential housing solution for Pete. To support the ongoing development of Pete’s basic life skills focusing on essential activities of daily living and to provide opportunity for Pete to integrate more fully into the community through scheduled and informal connections and activities and to create a model of an inclusive, integrated community-based housing solution for other individuals

and families facing similar challenges.
